MATCHA MINT produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. She lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which she stayed on was encouraging. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat. BRIGHT AND BRAZEN took on winners in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. The daughter of Erupt has scope and she may be the one to fill the exacta spot. BACK FROM WAR is better than her last start as she was reported to have choked up. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest. WAITING ON CHARLIE had excuses at the start on debut. She returns from a 21-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey keeps faith in the mount.
